Went to the Toronto Comic-Con today and it was pathetic. After standing in line for 3 hours it was nothing more than local stores selling their shirts and bobbleheads. Now, there were a couple of lovely ladies in costume. There was this one beauty in a tight and sexy latex Princess Peach costume that had my jaw hitting the floor. But, even that group of dressed up people only made up about 2% of the crowd (if you count out the little girls in Elsa costumes after seeing Disney's Frozen show at the Roger's Center). So unless you enjoy overpriced toys and art prints for sale by local amateur artists (I know I shouldn't say anything...but, enh) then it might be better just to do something else unless you absolutely have nothing else to do. There are no real panels and the guests are made up of third rate characters on current shows or mostly talentless hacks who haven't worked in years.
Part of the reason may have also been that I was hoping to get together with NorthStar this weekend and discuss things with the site and our characters in person. Unfortunately he was unable to make it downtown after some earlier appointments because of problems right now with his car. He is planning on getting them fixed Saturday and said if things were good then he would be willing to manage his schedule to come down and check things out on Sunday. I don't think I could do that to a friend given the sad state of this show and the fact I don't feel like heading downtown again.
Anyone else looking to go....don't worry about getting advanced tickets. Unless you are buying the VIP Fan Expo pass you can easily still get them at the show. Also, even if you bought your ticket in advance you still have to wait in the same line as everyone else. You should also be prepared for slow traffic due to road and water main repairs as well as tough times with public transit as Union Station is under major renovations. Things are so bad the platform is only about 3 feet wide. If you can manage walking that far I highly recommend getting off at King station.
